Musician

As a musician, you know the physical demands of producing an ovation-worthy performance. The demands on your body and mind are just as punishing as those of an Olympic athlete. Sometimes in the name of our art, we push through or ignore the warning signs of injury.  The PEAAC believes in the care and prevention of performance injuries so that you can return to the stage without pain or stress (physically or mentally).

The PEAAC offers many interdisciplinary services catering to the musician artist:

  • Consult with an experienced pianist (and fledgling violinist) Sports Medicine Physician who is dedicated to treating you holistically.
  • An on-site digital piano is available to assist in the diagnosis of overuse or nerve compression injuries.
  • Access to Alexander Technique specialists to help identify and prevent injury.
  • A well-equipped gym with functional trainers and weights to prepare your upper body or core for the prolonged requirements of even the longest concerto.
  • Access to strength and conditioning coaches to increase muscle support and flexibility.
  • Work with physical therapists, chiropractors, and whole health professionals to aid in injury recovery.
  • Consult a nutritionist/dietician to better fuel your body for peak performance.
  • Build body awareness and flexibility through Pilates, yoga, and other mindful movement workshops.
  • Improve mental skills to manage performance expectations, relieve performance anxiety, build confidence, and foster resilience during injury recovery.
