“Nursing encompasses an art, a humanistic orientation, a feeling for the value of the individual….” – Myrtle Aydelotte, RN, CEO American Nurses Association
Lisa Barkdull is a board-certified nurse practitioner in family medicine with over twenty years of experience working with people across the age spectrum. As your nurse practitioner, she will strive to invest all visits with respect for your individual concerns, needs and goals.
Originally from Northern Virginia (D.C. area), she obtained her advanced degree as a nurse practitioner from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville. With deep ancestral connections to the West, she moved from the East to the Rockies to be near family members who had settled along the Wasatch front. Aware of Utah’s natural beauty from backpacking trips in the National Parks, camping in the Uinta, and hiking in the mountains surrounding the Heber Valley, she continues to enjoy exploring the outdoors with her faithful border collie, Emma Hale. She also enjoys cycling on her road bike and is an avid fan of pro-cycling as well as European football (soccer) having played in high school.
Lisa was raised by a public health nurse and learned the basics of good nutrition at the family dinner table from poster boards of the now outdated five food groups. Aspiring to enjoy a healthy body as she ages, Lisa continues to work on fueling in ways that allow her to do this – it’s a process and a practice. A neighbor likes to tease “did you practice any medicine today?” Yes! Learning to live in the bodies we have, so that they can do the things we want, is a work of art and not an exact science.
